Indy Roberts
Life can be incredibly hard to navigate alone, particularly when it may feel that the people in our lives aren’t really listening; or it may be that we feel we have nobody we can safely talk to. Through person-centred counselling, I focus on creating a safe space where clients can give themselves permission to speak. I encourage clients to be confident they will not be judged, but rather feel free to speak openly knowing they will be heard.
Person-centred counselling is built around supporting clients to raise their own self-awareness through a therapeutic relationship centred around trust. Through active listening it enables clients to identify their real authentic voice and to empower them to steer themselves towards fulfilling their potential. Counselling is an incredible healing tool which I have witnessed to help many find their own answers through short and long term therapy.
I describe it to be a bit like pruning branches: where we remove the rotting fruit to allow for new growth. This may be related to a client’s perspective of themselves and the world around them that is holding them back from enjoying their life, or a client may be stuck in a pattern of thinking or way of relating that takes away their energy and joy.
My particular interests include raising client self-esteem, dealing with toxic shame, working with relationship issues, working with clients who identify as having ADHD and being neuro divergent. I am interested in supporting young people. I have experience working with disability. I also have experience working with clients who experience domestic abuse and exposure to narcissistic relationships, trauma, depression and anxiety, anger, eating disorders, BPD and grief. Please don’t feel you have to fit into any of these descriptions. Every client is unique and my counselling approach will encompass anyone who would like to work with me.
I’m fully qualified and insured and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and receive regular supervision so you can be confident you are in safe hands.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me and we can arrange a free consultation to see if I can support you with what you need to talk about through a new counselling journey.
